Legacy of Kain: Defiance Leaked for PS4 and PS5

A beloved classic from the PlayStation 2 era, Legacy of Kain: Defiance, appears to be on its way to PS4 and PS5. The game recently received a rating in Taiwan for both platforms, as reported by Gematsu, suggesting an official re-release may be just around the corner.

Originally developed by Crystal Dynamics and Silicon Knights, Defiance is the final chapter in the gothic action-adventure series centered on vampires and ancient prophecy. Upon its original release, the game garnered mixed reviews—but over time, it has earned a strong cult following, with many fans considering it one of the best entries in the franchise.

A Look Back at the Series

The Legacy of Kain saga began in 1996 with Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, starring the eponymous vampire. The story expanded with Soul Reaver, introducing Raziel as a new protagonist, who continued his journey in Soul Reaver 2. Kain returned as the lead in Blood Omen 2, and Defiance brought both characters together as dual protagonists—a rare and exciting combination that added depth and variety to the gameplay.

While Defiance has remained available to PC gamers via Steam and GOG, it has been absent from consoles for nearly two decades. That may be about to change.

Full Franchise Accessibility on Console

Should Legacy of Kain: Defiance launch on PS4 and PS5, it would mark a major milestone: the entire Legacy of Kain series would become playable on a single platform. Both Blood Omen titles are already included in the PS Plus Premium library, while the Soul Reaver games were remastered and re-released as part of a collection in 2024.

Although Defiance is not part of the June 2025 PS Plus Premium update, there is strong speculation that it could arrive as soon as July or later this year. For die-hard fans, this is great news—and for those who prefer not to wait, the full series remains accessible on PC. Blood Omen is exclusive to GOG, while Blood Omen 2 and Defiance are available on both Steam and GOG.
