Rumor: Fortnite OG May Get a Casual Mode With Bots

Fortnite might soon be undergoing a significant shakeup—again. According to a well-known leaker, Epic Games could be planning to remove bots from the core Fortnite OG experience and introduce a separate casual mode to accommodate more relaxed players.

🔍 Major Changes Leaked for Fortnite OG

Prominent leaker HYPEX recently posted that Epic Games is considering a big change: eliminating all AI bots from Fortnite OG, meaning every opponent in a match would be a real player. To balance the shift, HYPEX claims Epic may also be developing a casual version of the OG mode, where matches feature 12 real players and 88 bots.

This would mark a return to how Fortnite OG originally launched in December 2024—bot-free—before AI opponents were added shortly after to help with matchmaking.

These rumored changes follow the recent release of Season 4 of Fortnite OG, which included remixed skins like Omega and The Visitor, both classic favorites from Chapter 1. Fans were particularly hyped for The Visitor’s return, a central figure in Fortnite’s lore as part of The Seven, now updated with a refreshed but familiar look.

However, OG mode hasn’t had the smoothest run in 2025. Epic previously shut down ranked Fortnite OG and Zero Build OG, citing “matchmaking health” as a key reason—essentially, not enough players to sustain fair or consistent matches.

Recent reports indicate Fortnite hit its lowest active player count in over two years in May 2025. While some speculated the Star Wars: Galactic Battle collaboration contributed to the drop, the downward trend appears to have started earlier. Even with huge crossover events, Epic is facing increasing challenges keeping the player base engaged.
