🐾 New World, New Monsters

mo.co Chapter 2: “Portal Problems” — What’s Coming in the Big Update 1

In a preview led by Community Manager João and Marketing Lead Erol — accompanied by their plush cat mascot Ne.co — players were introduced to a brand-new realm overrun by mischievous and deadly feline creatures. Expect to face off against whimsically named monsters like Arrow Cat, Whisker, Slicer, Scratcher, and Skitter. Don’t let their cute appearance fool you — they pack a punch.

🗺️ Urban-Inspired Maps

Chapter 2 introduces several new urban-themed maps, offering a fresh twist to mo.co’s monster-hunting formula. Instead of rescuing Spirits as in previous environments, players will now be tasked with saving civilians and gardeners, adding a light narrative shift to gameplay.

🔫 New Weapons

To match the heightened challenge, players will be able to wield three new weapons:

  • Shotbow – A returning fan-favorite, now redesigned with updated visuals and functionality.
  • Time Claw – Delivers a powerful sixth-hit area attack and offers gadget cooldown reduction.
  • Poison Bow – Inflicts enemies with poison damage over time.

⚙️ New Gadgets

The gadget system is expanding with three powerful new tools:

  • P.E.W 3000 – A long-range, auto-firing turret perfect for zone control.
  • Healing Totem – Provides passive healing to nearby allies.
  • Life Drain – A hybrid gadget that deals damage while restoring your health.

🧬 New Passives

Three new passive abilities have been introduced:

  • Pocket Airbag – Grants emergency survivability in critical moments.
  • Cactus Charm – Reflects damage when attacked.
  • Gadget Battery – Electrifies enemies when you use gadgets.

📈 XP System Overhaul

The progression system has been reworked. Players can now earn up to 20,000 boosted XP per day, tracked via a new daily XP bar. Once that cap is reached, XP will continue to accumulate in a secondary, larger bar, allowing you to keep leveling at a slower pace.

More importantly, mo.co is transitioning to a weekly XP cap, replacing the older daily limit to give players more flexibility in how they play.

⚔️ Rift Challenges and Boss Fights

Rift gameplay is being enriched with more complex challenges, brand-new enemies, and boss battles with unique mechanics. Expect deeper gameplay loops and tougher tests of your skills.

👤 Social and Customization Improvements

Player expression and team-building are getting a major boost:

  • 12 new face customization options are available for male and female avatars.
  • The traditional lobby system is being replaced with a streamlined teaming system, letting you add friends directly from Rifts and Events. This makes it easier to form groups on the fly and encourages spontaneous co-op play.

🥋 PvP System Revamp

PvP is being upgraded with four rotating game modes and dynamic maps. Compete to earn Stars and climb through five Belt tiers, culminating in the Black Belt — which unlocks exclusive Titles as a badge of honor.

🏆 Leaderboard Rework

Say goodbye to global and local rankings. The new leaderboards focus on friends and groups, fostering tighter community competition and more meaningful progress tracking.

📅 Release Date

The “Portal Problems” update is expected to go live one week before Chapter 2 officially launches. While Supercell hasn’t revealed the exact release date yet, signs point to an imminent rollout.
