Fortnite Also Returns to the EU via Epic Games Store and AltStore

In Europe, Fortnite has also made a comeback through the Epic Games Store and AltStore, enabled by recent regulatory changes introduced by the Digital Markets Act (DMA). This development comes after Apple blocked Epic's attempt to reintroduce the game on iOS in the U.S.

A Major Win for Epic Games and Mobile Gamers

Last week, Epic accused Apple of violating a court injunction by refusing to review the Fortnite update. The company claimed this was retaliation due to their ongoing legal dispute over Apple’s App Store policies. According to a court ruling, Fortnite was expected to return in mid-May 2025, following the decision against Apple’s 30% fee on in-app purchases.

Epic CEO Responds to Fortnite’s EU Relaunch

Commenting on the EU launch, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney thanked supporters who shifted their stance over time:

“Thanks to all of the folks who initially sided with Apple, then later came around to the winning side, supporting app developer rights and consumer rights,” he wrote on X.

The Conflict May Not Be Over — But Players Win for Now

Although it’s still unclear whether this marks the end of the long-running feud between Epic and Apple, the return of Fortnite is undeniably a significant victory for both Epic and iOS players, who have been waiting since 2020 to see the game restored after its removal during Epic’s challenge of Apple’s in-app purchase commission.

Now Available — With Hardware Requirements

Fortnite is now live on the U.S. iOS App Store and already ranks #1 in downloads. Keep in mind that the game requires a minimum of 4GB of RAM to run — devices that don’t meet this requirement will receive a warning message on launch.
