Unlisted Patch Change: Raven of the Tree Returns in Diablo 4 Season 8
Diablo 4 has brought back the Raven of the Tree — an important and long-awaited quality-of-life improvement that, surprisingly, didn’t make it into the official patch notes. Season 8 of the game launched with plenty of updates and balance changes, but one particular surprise stood out — and it was a very welcome one.
Titled Belial’s Return, the new season features the comeback of the iconic Diablo 3 boss, now appearing as one of the revamped Boss Lair challenges. Another addition is the global event Deadly Apparitions, which triggers every few minutes in the open world of Sanctuary. Players of all difficulty levels can take part in it. As for the rest — it’s the usual mix of balance tweaks, buffs, and nerfs across all classes. But the real highlight for many turned out to be a small, unannounced feature that quietly improved the gameplay experience.
The Raven first appeared back in Season 7 and was spotted on the PTR. This NPC was part of the Headhunts — zones similar to Helltides, where players fought enemies enhanced by witchcraft powers. The Raven allowed players to turn in Grim Favors remotely, without having to return to the Tree of Whispers every time. This saved a lot of time and helped keep up the pace of grinding. The feature quickly gained popularity, and the community began asking Blizzard to bring the bird back in future seasons. Now, it’s finally returned — much to everyone’s delight.
