Alien: Rogue Incursion is set to release without VR support later this year
Alien: Rogue Incursion, the action-horror game from Survios, is getting a non-VR release this fall on PS5 and Steam.
The game originally launched last December for PSVR 2 and PCVR. Players take on the role of ex-Colonial Marine Zula Hendricks, who, together with synthetic companion Davis 01, heads to the uncharted planet Purdan to uncover the secrets of the Weyland-Yutani corporation. Naturally, the Xenomorphs show up pretty quickly.
The developers call Alien: Rogue Incursion the first part of a two-part story, but they say it “works as a complete standalone story” (if you don’t count the big cliffhanger at the end). The non-VR release is titled Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition, and it’s been “reworked” for consoles and PC. Exact details are still under wraps, but they promise deadlier Xenomorphs and enhanced visuals.
The original version has “mixed” reviews on Steam, with criticism aimed at weak AI and poor optimization — though many players agree the game has a solid foundation and successfully captures the atmosphere of the Alien franchise. If that sounds appealing, Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition will launch on PlayStation 5 and Steam on September 30, available in two editions:
— Standard Edition for $29.99, which includes the base game; — Deluxe Edition for $39.99, which includes the base game, a Blue Camo armor skin, a Blue Camo weapon skin, and the in-game art book The Art of Alien: Rogue Incursion.
It’s still unclear if owners of the VR version will get access to the new edition without buying it again.
So, to recap: Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition arrives on September 30. And if you’re in the mood for more Alien content, why not revisit Eurogamer’s coverage from last year celebrating the 10th anniversary of the legendary horror game Alien: Isolation?
