World of Warcraft Introduces “Turbo Boost” Progression Event for The War Within Season 2

Blizzard has unveiled Turbo Boost, a limited-time progression event designed to accelerate gearing and advancement during the remainder of World of Warcraft: The War Within Season 2. Running from May 13 until the launch of Patch 11.2 later this year, Turbo Boost brings a suite of enhancements to raiding, Mythic+ dungeons, Delves, and crafting ⚒️.

The announcement follows the recent release of Patch 11.1.5 on April 22, which introduced the Nightfall scenario, the Cooldown Manager, and the Winds of Mysterious Fortune leveling event 🌬️. As the first of two mid-season updates bridging Patch 11.1 (Undermine(d)) and Patch 11.2, the community now finds itself roughly a third of the way through Season 2 📅.

To help players power through the rest of the season, Turbo Boost increases loot opportunities and removes several existing progression limitations. Highlights include:

🔧 Turbo Boost Features

  • 🆙 Hero and Myth gear upgrade tracks increased from 6 to 8 levels
  • 💥 Mythic+ drop rates doubled for Warbound until Equipped gear
  • ❌ Crest caps removed, allowing unlimited farming
  • 🔄 Valorstones now transferrable across your Warband
  • 🌬️ Delves now reward bonus Crests, Valorstones, Delver’s Journey progress, and Brann XP
  • ✨ Sparks of Fortune-crafted gear can be upgraded using Augmentation Matrices

📜 New Weekly Raid Quest

A new weekly quest will also help with raid progression. By defeating four bosses in the Liberation of Undermine raid, you’ll earn one Puzzling Cartel Chip 🧩. Trade three Chips with Wrexxle in Dornogal, near the Great Vault, to purchase one piece of raid gear. Each character can earn up to six Chips, which means two pieces of loot 💼.

⚠️ Heroic and Mythic pieces require defeating the relevant bosses at that difficulty before you can buy them — a restriction that’s sparked some debate in the community.

💬 Community Reaction

While fans appreciate the faster gearing and flexibility, many are surprised to see such big changes so early in the season. Some are also frustrated by the raid gear restrictions, especially when compared to past systems like Puzzling Cartel Dinars (Shadowlands) or Antique Bronze Bullions (Dragonflight) which were more lenient.

Adding to the criticism, Turbo Boost continues the trend of major features in Patch 11.1.5 rolling out post-launch — often with bugs and unclear timing 🐛. Between content delays and inconsistent pacing, player sentiment around the patch remains mixed.

Still, with Patch 11.2 on the horizon, Blizzard has time to course-correct. If tuned properly, Turbo Boost could give The War Within the mid-season push it needs 💪.
