Warcraft Announces Competitive Interior Design With Azeroth Interiors
Blizzard is introducing a new competitive event in World of Warcraft focused on the game's new housing feature. The "Azeroth Interiors" contest, described by executive producer Holly Longdale as a "global renovation challenge," will bring together community creators to compete in interior design. The competition is structured with six pairs of "homeowner" and "builder" participants from around the world. The event, scheduled to run from February 17 to 24, will start with a Pinterest board stage for design planning, followed by the in-game building phase. The contest will culminate in a final judging livestream, where the six completed builds will be showcased. The winner of the competition will have their creation featured as a custom listing on the real estate website Zillow.
The promotional efforts for the upcoming Midnight expansion, set to release on March 2, have heavily emphasized the new housing features. During the State of Azeroth stream, a new cinematic trailer was revealed, highlighting the housing theme. The trailer depicted an adventurer who, after defeating an enemy and obtaining a spiked bracer, returns to a vibrant neighborhood and repurposes the bracer as a coffeepot stand in their home. In line with the housing theme, Longdale also announced a charity drive in support of Habitat for Humanity. Players can contribute to the cause by purchasing Roofus, a dog character equipped with a hard hat and tool belt, which also includes pet décor items for the in-game houses.
All active subscribers who log in to the game before the Midnight expansion's launch will receive a Dark Portal décor item. This item is a replica of the portal to Outland and Draenor, a significant landmark in the Azeroth Interiors universe. Additionally, a "Welcome Back Weekend" is currently active until Sunday, February 1, offering free access to the game.
Read also, Raymond Bartos, a former producer for World of Warcraft, has confirmed his new role at Riot Games. He will be contributing to the development of the upcoming League of Legends MMO, a project that was first announced in 2020.
