Psycho Bandit from Borderlands 3 May Be Returning to Fortnite After Five Years

A Rare Collab from a Different Era of Fortnite

Back when collaborations in Fortnite were rare and far more impactful, the Borderlands 3 crossover stood out as a big deal. These days, players expect at least one collab skin in each Battle Pass, along with frequent Item Shop rotations featuring characters from popular franchises like Marvel, Star Wars, and Dragon Ball. But in 2019, the arrival of Psycho Bandit was a major event — and it hasn’t returned since.

The Mayhem Set Returns?

The Mayhem set, which includes the Psycho Bandit skin, Claptrap back bling, and Psycho Buzz Axes, has been missing from the game for nearly five years. Initially offered as a bonus to players who purchased Borderlands 3 on the Epic Games Store, it later appeared in the Item Shop for 2,000 V-Bucks.

Now, with the launch of patch v34.40, Fortnite data miners — most notably trusted leaker HYPEX — have found that the Borderlands set has been updated in the game files. This typically means that the cosmetic is being prepped for re-release in the near future.

Last Seen: May 31, 2020

The last time the Psycho Bandit skin was available in the Item Shop was May 31, 2020 — almost 1,800 days ago. That puts it among the rarest skins in Fortnite history, particularly within the Gaming Legends Series.

While some players are thrilled about its potential return, others are a bit disappointed that one of Fortnite’s more exclusive items may soon be available again. This echoes the situation with the Kratos skin, which received updates last year but never returned to the shop — leaving fans uncertain about whether Psycho Bandit will actually make a comeback.

Should You Save Your V-Bucks?

Although nothing is confirmed, signs are pointing toward a return. If you're a fan of Borderlands or a Fortnite collector, it might be wise to start saving your V-Bucks. The Psycho Bundle could drop at any moment — and if history is any indicator, it may not stick around for long.
