Genshin Impact Leak Hints at New Endgame Mode with 3 Teams and World Bosses

It looks like Genshin Impact might finally be getting a new endgame mode—and this time, it could be something totally different from the Spiral Abyss. According to recent leaks from trusted sources like Seele Leaks and HomDGRat, HoYoverse is testing a new combat-focused challenge that throws players into a six-floor gauntlet, split across three teams, with a pretty wild twist: you start with zero energy.

Let’s break that down. Right now, most Genshin players get their high-end combat fix from the Spiral Abyss and, more recentl,y from the Imaginarium Theater, which was introduced in the Natlan era. Both modes offer tough enemies, team-building strategies, and reward cosmetics or resources, depending on how well you do. But this new rumored mode sounds like a mash-up of those two—with a serious upgrade in difficulty.

The leak describes a new “Spiral Abyss-like” setup, but instead of 12 floors and two teams, you get six rooms total, divided across three separate teams. And instead of fighting the usual mobs or elites, each room will apparently feature World Boss-level enemies, which could make this a real test of skill and planning. No more coasting through with a single cracked carry team—you’ll have to spread your resources across three strong lineups.

But the most talked-about feature? You start the challenge with zero energy, meaning none of your characters will be able to use their Elemental Bursts right away. That’s a pretty big deal. A ton of popular characters—like Raiden Shogun, Nahida, or Yelan—rely heavily on their Bursts for both damage and utility. If you’re forced to build Energy Recharge or rely more on characters with strong skills and normal attacks, this could seriously shake up the meta.

Some fans are excited about the challenge. A no-energy start means we might see new team comps that focus less on Burst damage and more on elemental reactions, shields, or long-lasting skill effects. Others aren’t so thrilled, especially those who’ve invested a lot of time and Primogems into building characters specifically for Burst-heavy rotations.

There’s also speculation that HoYoverse might use this new mode to showcase upcoming characters, especially ones who don’t need energy to function. The name Skirk keeps coming up in the community since leaks suggest she doesn’t rely on her Burst at all. If that’s true, it’s easy to imagine this mode being tailor-made to sell her kit—similar to how past events have highlighted new mechanics tied to just-released characters.

Interestingly, this leak comes right after the game’s “Unlimited Fighting Championship” combat event, which might have been a dry run for the new format. That event had similar rules, like limited energy and harder enemy types, and it sparked a lot of debate in the community. Some players loved the challenge, others hated the restrictions. Sound familiar?

As always, leaks aren’t confirmations, and things can definitely change before anything goes live. But Genshin has been due for a fresh take on the game for a while, and with the game slowly heading toward the southern region of Snezhnaya and beyond, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see new combat modes roll out alongside new regions and Archon Quests.

For now, players are getting ready for Version 5.6, which drops on May 7. That patch will bring the Traveler and Paimon back to Mondstadt, plus introduce new characters, Escoffier and Ifa. But with Version 6.0 looming on the horizon and a whole new region (possibly Nod-Krai) in the works, we could be looking at the beginning of a brand-new Genshin combat experience.

Stay tuned—and maybe start building that third team now.
