Phasmophobia's Easter Event Gets Wild With Jackalopes and Community Chaos
If you haven’t been jump-scared out of your chair by Phasmophobia yet, this might be your moment. The ghost-hunting sim is kicking off its first major event of 2025—called Cursed Hollow—on April 17, and it’s bringing in a cursed rabbit-deer hybrid and a whole lot of teamwork-based horror.
For the uninitiated, Phasmophobia is a multiplayer horror game where you (and up to three friends) act as ghost hunters, investigating haunted locations using real ghost-hunting tools like EMF readers, spirit boxes, and the infamous DOTS projector. The goal? Identify what kind of ghost you’re dealing with before it turns the tables and starts hunting you. It’s been a Twitch darling since 2020, especially with its freaky voice recognition system that lets the ghosts actually respond to what you say.

The Easter-themed Cursed Hollow event is pulling out all the stops this year. According to devs Kinetic Games, players will be digging up Jackalope totems—yeah, those creepy mythical antlered rabbit things—hidden across maps. These aren’t just for show, either.
“But beware: interacting with the totems will have eerie effects, some helpful, and some that may hinder even the most experienced of teams.”
Love that for us.

There’s also a new twist to rewards. This time around, there are two types: Community rewards and Personal rewards. Here’s the kicker: Personal goals don’t unlock until the community hits certain milestones together. So yes, you’ll have to work with randoms (or drag your squad online) if you want all the goodies.
“During Cursed Hollow, Ghost Hunters will need to work together to identify ghosts, complete objectives, and search for Jackalope totems hidden across the game’s maps,” the developer teased.
The event includes daily map rotations (with nine seasonally decorated maps), gameplay modifiers that tweak how things play out, and a ton of fresh challenges that’ll change things up even for the most seasoned ghost investigators. If you’ve memorized all the ghost patterns, don’t get cocky—these modifiers might shake that up real fast.
Lead dev Daniel "Dknighter" Knight also dropped a little love letter to the community:
“Our community is everything, and we're always looking for ways to improve.”
He says they’ve taken feedback from past events and overhauled some key systems, like the reward structures and gameplay tweaks, to make this event feel fresher and more intense.
“We’ve made some changes this year following direct feedback from our previous events, from the new reward split to some interesting new gameplay modifiers.”
Cursed Hollow runs for three weeks starting April 17, and it’s live across all supported platforms—Steam, PS5, PS VR2, and Xbox Series X/S. That’s a pretty big deal, considering Phasmophobia only hit consoles last October, and it’s already sold over 2 million console copies, adding to its staggering 22 million total sales.

And yes, that’s still wild to think about. An indie horror game built on ghost-hunting realism and tension blew up so hard that it’s now a seasonal event machine with a massive player base. Not bad for a game that came out of early access less than a year ago.
In 2025, Kinetic Games isn’t slowing down. They've teased even more on the roadmap: full map reworks, new ghost-hunting equipment (cue the speculation), “thrilling seasonal events,” and even a brand-new location. Whether you’re a solo masochist or a team comms enjoyer, this year is shaping up to be packed.
If you’ve been away from the game, this event might be the perfect excuse to jump back in. Just don’t say we didn’t warn you when that Jackalope totem turns your friendly ghost hunt into a complete nightmare run.
