FragPunk Locks in PS5 and Xbox Release Date

After an initial delay, FragPunk is finally set to make its debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S later this month. Despite the absence of console versions, the PC launch still saw impressive success, reaching over 100,000 concurrent players at its peak.

Prior to release, fans of the highly anticipated shooter were disappointed when NetEase announced a delay for the console versions. Technical issues discovered during compliance tests — particularly with optimization and adaptation — led the team to postpone the console launch rather than releasing an underwhelming experience. However, the wait is almost over, and console players will soon be able to dive into the action.

In a stylish new trailer, it was confirmed that FragPunk will officially arrive on April 29, 2025 for both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. This marks just under two months since the PC version first launched. Luckily, players jumping in now won't be missing out. FragPunk previously revealed compensation plans, including making pre-order bonuses available and offering $10 in in-game currency for those who preordered. On top of that, console players will receive all player engagement rewards earned during the first season.

It’s clear that Bad Guitar and NetEase are aiming for the long haul with FragPunk, hoping to grow the game steadily with new content and updates. Since its PC launch, the game has seen regular updates, with more on the way — including new modes, additional Lancers, and fresh cards to keep gameplay exciting. Season 1 already features casual modes like the infection-style Outbreak mode. Better yet, players will be able to switch platforms easily thanks to full cross-progression and cross-play support 🔄.

That said, FragPunk’s journey hasn’t been without its bumps. Many players expressed frustration over the game’s heavy reliance on microtransactions. At launch, FragPunk introduced nine different currencies and offered two subscription systems, leading to criticism about the overwhelming amount of premium content. While such monetization is typical in free-to-play models, many felt FragPunk took it a step too far.
