Since its groundbreaking launch in 2022, Elden Ring has become one of the best-selling and highest-rated games of all time. Over the years, FromSoftware has supported it with free content updates, adding quality-of-life improvements and new features. Then, in 2024, the highly anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree expansion was released, earning universal acclaim and even securing a Game of the Year nomination at The Game Awards 2024.

While many assumed Elden Ring updates would slow down as FromSoftware shifts focus to Elden Ring: Nightreign (releasing in May) and The Duskbloods (coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026), the developer has now confirmed that new content is still on the way.

What’s Coming in the 2025 Elden Ring Update?

The upcoming update will introduce:

🛡️ New armor sets

⚔️ Additional weapons

🐎 Customization options for Torrent

A specific release date has not yet been announced, but fans can expect more details in the coming months.

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition Announced for Switch 2

The new content will be part of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, which was officially revealed during the latest Nintendo Direct. This version, launching for the Switch 2 in late 2025, includes:

📜 Elden Ring (Base Game)

🌑 Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

🛡️ New armor, weapons & Torrent customization

While this is exciting news for Switch 2 owners, some fans are surprised that Elden Ring: Nightreign hasn’t been announced for the platform. The upcoming roguelite, co-op spin-off—where teams of three players explore open areas and battle challenging bosses—seems like a perfect fit for the Switch 2’s multiplayer-friendly ecosystem. However, for now, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will give Nintendo players their first chance to experience the Lands Between.

With more details expected soon, Elden Ring fans have plenty to look forward to in the coming year! ⚔️🔥
