Ashly Burch Responds to Leaked AI Aloy Footage: "I Feel Worried"
Ashly Burch, the voice of Aloy in Horizon, has addressed the recently leaked footage of an AI-generated version of her character. The clip, which surfaced earlier this week, showed a Sony employee interacting with the AI Aloy, who responded to questions and even referenced Horizon lore.
Burch confirmed that developer Guerrilla assured her the demo "didn't reflect anything actively in development" and that Sony "didn't use any of performance" — meaning neither her voice nor facial data were involved. However, she still expressed deep concern.
"I'm not worried about Guerrilla or my career specifically," Burch stated. "I feel worried about this art form. Game performance as an art form."
She highlighted the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, emphasizing the need for protections around AI use in entertainment. "We are asking for consent, fair compensation, and transparency on how AI doubles are used."
Burch stressed that technology itself isn’t the problem — it’s the lack of safeguards for actors. "I just imagine a video like this with someone’s actual voice or performance attached, and that person having no recourse. That possibility... it scares me."
Her message was clear: this fight isn’t just about today’s actors but the future of storytelling in games.
