1. Choose Your Venue
First things first, you need a place to run your business. If you're feeling lazy (or just want to keep it convenient), you can run the parlor from your Sim’s house. Otherwise, head over to the business menu on your smartphone to purchase a separate venue. You can select a residential, community, or small venue lot that fits within your budget. Once you've got a venue, you can either manually register it as a business, or just check the box to register it as one when purchasing the lot.
2. Register Your Business
Now that you have a venue, it’s time to officially register your business. This will cost 750 Simoleons, so make sure your Sim has saved up enough to cover this expense. You can register your business through the business menu on your phone. During registration, you'll be asked to choose your business activities, logo, and target customer. To start a tattoo parlor, pick “Get Tattooed” and “Practice Tattooing” as your activities. You can also select up to three other activities - some options like "Clean" and "Listen to Music" might be useful to create a relaxed and sanitized atmosphere for clients.
3. Get the Right Equipment
Before you can start tattooing, you need a few basic items. At the very least, you’ll need a tattoo table. To add some flair and extra functionality, you might want to buy signs, ticket kiosks, and even a bathroom. If you want to get fancy, the Digitalistic Sketchpad is a great addition, allowing your Sim to design tattoos for the business.

1. Build Your Tattoo Skills
Just like in real life, your tattoo artist’s skill level will directly impact your earnings. If you're just starting out, you might not have the highest skill level, so you’ll want to rely on a ticket kiosk to charge an entry fee and a per-hour rate for Sims who spend time in your parlor. This way, you’ll still make money even if your tattooing skills aren’t on point yet.
2. Offer a Flat Service
Fee Once your tattoo artist reaches a higher skill level, switch to a flat service-based fee for each tattoo. The better your tattoo skills, the more money you’ll earn per design. You can even make tattooing your Sim’s hobby to build up their skills before you open the business, allowing you to start making more money from day one.
3. Hiring Artists and Employees
As your business grows, you’ll want to hire tattoo artists and other employees to help run the shop. While it takes time to earn enough money to pay employees, you can also allow other artists to rent space at your parlor in the meantime. This could be a great way to make extra money while your business grows!
4. Additional Revenue
Streams You don’t have to just rely on tattoos for income. Consider adding food stalls or other services to boost your earnings. Extra features can not only make your parlor more appealing to clients, but they can also bring in a little extra cash.
Maximize Your Business Success

With the Business & Hobbies expansion, you can build a tattoo empire, start your own pottery business, and explore other creative ventures all within The Sims 4. Whether you’re starting small or dreaming big, your Sim can take on the entrepreneurial world. As your business grows, be sure to hire employees, improve your skills, and keep your customers happy.
Business and Hobby are separate additions. However, a robber recently appearedin the basic version, his activities will definitely not let you get bored!
With these tips in hand, you’ll be tattooing up a storm in no time and turning your tattoo parlor into a thriving business! Who knew running a tattoo shop in a game could be so much fun (and profitable)?
