BlizzCon Skipping 2025, Set to Return in 2026

Blizzard has officially confirmed that BlizzCon will not take place in 2025, marking the second consecutive year the fan-favorite event has been skipped. However, the company has also announced that BlizzCon will return in 2026, once again hosted at the Anaheim Convention Center.

BlizzCon Skipping Another Year

On March 11, 2025, Blizzard announced via its official BlizzCon website that the event will not be held this year, following its absence in 2024. Since its inception in 2005, BlizzCon has been an annual gathering where Blizzard unveils major game updates and expansions while bringing together fans of Warcraft, Starcraft, Overwatch, and Diablo. However, after missing 2024, the event is skipping yet another year before its planned return in September 2026.

Despite this disappointing news, Blizzard assured fans that it is working to "elevate this iconic celebration."

BlizzCon 2026 Dates & Venue

BlizzCon 2026 will take place on September 12 and 13 at the Anaheim Convention Center. While ticket prices have not been announced, it's worth noting that BlizzCon 2023 charged $300 per in-person ticket, the highest in the event’s history. Notably, for the first time ever, BlizzCon 2023 did not sell out, suggesting potential adjustments for future events.

BlizzCon Under Xbox Ownership

This will be the first time BlizzCon has been skipped for two consecutive years and only the second BlizzCon under Xbox ownership. The 2023 event took place just a month after Microsoft’s acquisition of Blizzard, leaving little time for Xbox to influence the show. However, by 2026, Microsoft and Xbox will have been overseeing Blizzard for several years, making it interesting to see how their leadership shapes the event and the fan response.

Blizzard’s Official Statement on BlizzCon 2026

Blizzard released an official statement confirming the return of BlizzCon in 2026, emphasizing the event’s legacy and its importance to the gaming community:

"BlizzCon is back! The ultimate celebration of our games and the community that unites us is returning to the Anaheim Convention Center Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, in 2026."

Blizzard also promised to elevate the event’s experience, incorporating fan-favorite staples like the Opening Ceremony, in-depth panels, Darkmoon Faire, friendly competitions, hands-on gameplay, and more.

The company assured fans that it is committed to creating an unforgettable experience, stating:
