Terminator 2D: A fresh take on Terminator 2 delivers arcade-style action with a 2D twist
Terminator 2D: No Fate is bringing pixelated action to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on September 5. Developed by Bitmap Bureau, this side-scrolling arcade game reimagines Terminator 2 with retro-styled visuals, multiple playable characters, and intense combat.
It’s been over 30 years since Terminator 2: Judgment Day became a sci-fi classic, and now, a new game adaptation is set to reignite the action – but with a twist. Terminator 2D: No Fate is a side-scrolling, pixel-art reimagining of James Cameron’s legendary film, developed by Bitmap Bureau (Xeno Crisis, 88 Heroes). It aims to deliver old-school arcade-style mayhem while staying true to the Terminator universe.

The game’s main draw? It embraces the classic 2D aesthetic but brings modern gameplay mechanics and fluid animations. The trailer already showcases an intense bar fight where the T-800 rampages through enemies—completely in the nude, just like in the film. But Arnie’s cybernetic warrior isn’t the only playable character.
Three Playable Heroes in Terminator 2D

Players can take control of three key characters:
- The T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator): A tank-like powerhouse with a devastating shoulder barge and high durability. While he’s slower than the others, he can take a beating and dish out massive damage.
- Sarah Connor: Agile and fast, she excels in melee combat with a sliding attack. She also has a laser sight ability, which locks her in place but drastically boosts her weapon damage.
- John Connor (Future War version): A tactical fighter, John uses a plasma rifle, pipe bombs, and three ammo types. He lacks Sarah’s agility but makes up for it with mid-to-long-range firepower.
The main antagonist? None other than the terrifying T-1000, complete with its signature liquid metal abilities, making for some intense and unpredictable battles.
The game follows the events of Terminator 2 while adding new scenarios, offering a mix of classic moments and original twists. Interestingly, Terminator 2D: No Fate features multiple endings, giving players the chance to determine humanity’s future - whether they can truly change fate or succumb to the machines.
Launching on September 5, 2025, the game will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC (Steam & Epic Games Store). Whether you're a longtime Terminator fan or just love arcade brawlers, this pixelated take on the sci-fi classic looks like a wild ride.
