EA Rereleases The Sims Legacy Collections for Franchise’s 25th Anniversary
EA has officially announced the rerelease of two iconic games from The Sims series, just in time for the franchise’s 25th anniversary celebrations. Fans of the beloved life simulation games can now revisit The Sims and The Sims 2, along with a variety of classic expansion packs, in the new Sims Legacy Collection.
The Sims Legacy Collection includes the base game of The Sims, paired with popular expansion packs such as Livin’ Large, House Party, Hot Date, Vacation, Unleashed, Superstar, and Makin’ Magic. Also bundled in is The Sims 4’s Throwback Fit Kit, bringing some of the modern flair to this nostalgic collection.

Meanwhile, the Sims 2: Legacy Collection offers players a chance to dive into The Sims 2 with its expansive lineup of expansion packs, including University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Bon Voyage, Seasons, FreeTime, Apartment Life, Holiday Party Pack, Family Fun Stuff, Glamour Life Stuff, Happy Holiday Stuff, Celebration! Stuff, H&M Fashion Stuff, Teen Style Stuff, Kitchen & Bath Interior Design Stuff, and Mansion & Garden Stuff. For added nostalgia, The Sims 4: Grunge Revival has also been included in the bundle.
However, the IKEA Home Stuff pack will not be included in the Sims 2 collection, much to the disappointment of some fans. Both collections are available together as part of The Sims: 25th Birthday Bundle.
The original The Sims game, which debuted in 2000, has never been rereleased before, while The Sims 2 has previously been bundled as part of The Ultimate Collection, available via Origin from 2014 to 2018. The rerelease of these classic titles aims to make them accessible on modern systems, eliminating compatibility issues that fans have long struggled with when trying to run older games on Windows 10 and 11. If you're concerned about technical issues like graphical glitches, EA's updated versions will hopefully offer a smoother experience.
These rereleases mark a huge milestone for The Sims series, and whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer curious to see where the franchise began, the Legacy Collections offer an accessible way to relive these iconic games.
