Karazhan Crypts Dungeon is Now Playable in WoW Classic Season
World of Warcraft's Karazhan Crypts, one of the most famous pieces of cut content from the original game, is finally available to explore today. This long-awaited addition to WoW Classic's experimental Season of Discovery servers brings a previously unused area to life as a five-man dungeon.
The Karazhan Crypts, originally part of the world beneath Karazhan Tower, were a mysterious and dark space that never saw the light of day in vanilla WoW. Despite its obscurity, the crypts have captured the imaginations of players for years. Now, as part of the Season of Discovery, this eerie area has been transformed into a dungeon that offers players a unique and challenging experience.
The Karazhan Crypts offer a dungeon, unlike others in the game. The crypt is shrouded in darkness, requiring players to use a magical torch to dispel the gloom and light the way. Without a mini-map to guide them, players must rely on teamwork and communication to explore the depths. The dungeon’s design draws inspiration from classic dungeon-crawling RPGs, emphasizing discovery and secrets. Players will need to keep their eyes peeled for hidden elements that may help their party progress deeper into the crypts.
This dungeon is designed for high-level players who have already acquired endgame gear. The loot found in the Karazhan Crypts will be comparable to the powerful rewards from raids like Blackwing Lair and the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj. Due to the strength of these rewards, the Karazhan Crypts will have a 24-hour lockout, limiting players to one run per day.
Blizzard teased the addition of the Karazhan Crypts at BlizzCon 2023 as part of the Season of Discovery. This content phase has already introduced Demon Fall Canyon, another previously unused area, as a dungeon where players face off against the phantom of Grommash Hellscream. Along with the Karazhan Crypts, Season of Discovery also revamps the infamous Naxxramas raid and promises more endgame content, including a Scarlet Crusade-themed raid coming soon.
For those in the modern version of WoW, the next major update will focus on the goblins of Undermine, while Blizzard continues to work on the new player housing feature set for the game’s next expansion.
