South of Midnight Release Date Announced

Compulsion Games, the studio behind We Happy Few, unveiled more details about its upcoming game, South of Midnight, during the Xbox Direct showcase. Set in the enchanting yet eerie Deep South of the United States, this darkly magical adventure now has an official release date: April 8.

Players will step into the role of Hazel, a Weaver who has recently unlocked the ability to see a hidden supernatural world teeming with creatures from folklore. As Hazel searches for her mother in the aftermath of a devastating hurricane, she must navigate encounters with both friendly and hostile beings. Her journey will pit her against powerful Haints - spirits trapped by their traumas. To free them, Hazel must master her magical powers, confront their darkness, and uncover the secrets of her own family and legacy.

While South of Midnight promises soulslike-inspired combat with dodge-and-strike mechanics, the story’s depth and atmospheric world are the real draws.
