Godzilla Invades Fortnite: Epic Showdown Begins This Week!

Fortnite has already challenged players with massive opponents, and now the legendary Godzilla is set to unleash chaos on the Island later this week. Epic Games’ wildly popular multiplayer battle royale is known for its numerous crossovers, allowing fans to unlock exclusive character skins inspired by franchises like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Wonder Woman, and even the iconic Vocaloid Hatsune Miku.

Joining the ever-expanding roster of guest characters, the iconic Japanese movie monster Godzilla will arrive in Fortnite as part of Chapter 6, Season 1. Players will be able to unlock a skin based on his powerful Evolved form from last year’s film Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, launching on January 17. Godzilla's upcoming debut has already sparked excitement and speculation among fans about the potential addition of other famous Godzilla designs as future skins. Some are even joking that Fortnite is becoming the video game version of the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny.

As any Godzilla fan knows, it’s only a matter of time before this colossal beast stops playing nice and goes on a destructive rampage. Fortnite is about to face his fury later this week. According to Dexerto, Fortnite’s update version 33.20 for Chapter 6, Season 1, will go live on January 14. While the official start time hasn’t been announced, Epic Games is expected to begin server downtime at 4 AM PT, 7 AM ET, and 12 PM GMT to prepare for the update.

This update is expected to focus heavily on the Monsterverse. Recent trailers have already shown footage of a massive Godzilla stomping across the Fortnite map. Godzilla may not be the only Kaiju arriving either—a quick glimpse of a King Kong decal on a passing car has fueled rumors that Kong could join his long-time rival as a Fortnite boss later in Chapter 6, following the confirmed Godzilla crossover in Season 1.

Fortnite has faced its share of devastation from powerful characters like Galactus, Doctor Doom, and The Nothing. Now, players must brace for another catastrophe, courtesy of Godzilla. Once the dust settles, fans might see even more Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters added in the coming year, along with a highly anticipated Fortnite crossover with Devil May Cry.
