Leaked Photos Reveal Key Features and Specs of the Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2
It looks like the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 is coming soon, as leaked photos and specs of the hybrid console have surfaced on Chinese social media.
The key takeaway is that the Nintendo Switch 2 will maintain its hybrid design, with detachable Joy-Cons and a dock for outputting to larger displays. The design will be more rounded, and the screen size will increase to 8 inches. While the display type and resolution haven't been confirmed, earlier rumors suggested an IPS screen with 1080p resolution. The console’s dimensions, excluding the Joy-Cons, are 206 x 115 x 14 mm, making it larger than the current Nintendo Switch.
One notable change is the way controllers attach to the tablet, switching to a magnetic connection. Instead of sliding in from the top, they will now attach from the sides. The magnets are built into the console, while the Joy-Cons have metal parts on the underside, as seen in the leaked images. The top panel houses the USB-C port, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and cartridge slot. An NFC chip for Amiibo functionality is also included. The kickstand is expected to be the same as the one on the Nintendo Switch OLED model.
As for the hardware, the memory will be a 12 GB dual-channel module, built with LPDDR5X technology, offering speeds of 7500 MT/s. The storage capacity will be 256 GB, utilizing UFS 3.1 technology with transfer speeds up to 2100 MB/s.
