As Halloween approaches, the EGW team has decided to acquaint you with the vampire in RDR2. If you're not afraid to face him, read on for more eerie adventures.
One of RDR2`s hidden gems is the Saint Denis Vampire, a grotesque creature reminiscent of the classic Nosferatu, preying on unsuspecting passersby. For the majority of players, encountering this monster by chance is highly unlikely. However, thanks to the power of the internet and social media, you may have already heard whispers about this enigmatic creature from those who have had the eerie pleasure of crossing its path. If you dare to seek out this elusive vampire, you're in luck – we've got the instructions you need.
How to Summon the Vampire
The Saint Denis Vampire isn't your typical Saint Denis street wanderer; you must actively summon this creature.
To do so, you'll need to discover five cryptic messages hidden on walls throughout Saint Denis. And no one said that it would be easy!
Locations of the Mysterious Writings
These mysterious messages can be found in the southeast quarter of the city, and here are their exact locations:
Remember to "inspect" each message as you encounter them.
General Store Message
Start your quest on the southeast edge of the city, close to a train track, where you'll find a general store with two doors.
Next to the door nearest to the track, you'll spot the first piece of writing on the wall. It reads:
"Five bones under the perfect star. Nosferatu with Dominica will become mortal again."
Back Alley Message
A little north of the post office and down the street from a gunsmith, you'll come across a back alley area. Here, you'll see two sets of green wooden stairs.
Beneath one of them, you'll find a tunnel that you must traverse. Once inside, the message on the wall to your right reads:
"Oh sweetest of napes. May your blood remain forever on my lips. Six there will be before the lust is sated."
Apartment Building Message
Continue your search in the area behind the gunsmith. From the street, navigate through the alley beside the Jade Dragon Chinese Restaurant.
Once inside, you'll find an apartment building on your right, with the piece of writing past the second light. This message reads:
"With one long kiss, I draw the life from her and await the outpost of advancing day."
Soup Kitchen Message
The Soup Kitchen is located across the street from a saloon, with a prominent sign indicating its presence.
Head right from the sign and take your first left; the message can be seen on the building as you round the corner. It reads:
"I drink from the Maiden and I live again in the dead. The heart of the ring of blood."
Market Message
The market resides on the eastern side of Saint Denis and might not be marked on your map, but there's a trapper nearby to guide you. The message you're seeking is in a small enclosed area right next to the main market entrance.
The gate might be closed as you approach, but you can push it open. Inside, the writing is on the wall to the left and reads:
"I feed again the blood of life; the circle has begun."
Meet the Vampire
Once you've inspected all the messages, your protagonist will sketch a pentagram in their journal, revealing the location where the vampire spawns.
The vampire can be found in an alley across the street from a butcher shop and a general store, but he only appears between midnight and 1 a.m. You'll know he's there when a corpse appears on your map at his supposed location.
When you meet this creature, you'll quickly realize he's not the most amiable character, as he will issue threats. If you provoke him or refuse to leave, he'll attack you. Be cautious, as he can eliminate you with a single strike. If you manage to defeat him, you can claim his Ornate Knife.
