In Alan Wake 2's New Game Plus mode, a "completely new alternative narrative" will be available
The developers from Remedy confirmed their plans regarding the New Game Plus mode on Wednesday, just before the game's release this week.
In the New Game Plus mode of the game, players will have the option to retain all of their unlocked weapons and player upgrades.
Moreover, a new difficulty level, "Nightmare," will be introduced, along with a "completely new alternative storyline featuring new Manuscript pages and additional video content."
Remedy representatives noted that the exact release timing for this update remains uncertain.
Originally scheduled for October 17, the release of Alan Wake 2 has been postponed to October 27 for gaming platforms such as PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC through the Epic Games Store.
Remedy made the decision to delay the game's release by 10 days to avoid conflicting with other major releases in October, such as Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Spider-Man 2.
Initially, this delay raised concerns that the game's launch would be just two days after the release of another significant survival horror game, the reboot of Alone in the Dark.
However, last month, THQ Nordic, the publisher, announced that the release of Alone in the Dark was postponed to January 2024, also to avoid the crowded October release schedule.
It's worth noting that the post-launch plans for Alan Wake 2 include the release of "rather substantial" additional content, as confirmed by creative director Sam Lake.
