The free story DLC called The Final Horizon for Sonic Frontiers is now available for download
The "Final Horizon" update is now available for free download, bringing not only new missions but also other enhancements.
According to Sega, this update allows players to "return to Ouranos Island and experience additional storylines."
Furthermore, players can now, for the first time in the game, take on the roles of Tails, Knuckles, or Amy, each of whom possesses unique abilities and skills.
In addition to the new story content, the DLC includes "new challenges, collectible items, and much more," along with numerous bug fixes.
"The Final Horizon" marks the third and final free update for Sonic Frontiers, which was initially released in November 2022.
The first update, titled "Sights, Sound, and Speed," was released in March 2023 and introduced new modes such as "Battle Rush" and "Cyber Space Challenge," as well as a Photo mode and a Jukebox mode.
The second update arrived in June 2023, known as "Sonic's Birthday Bash," adding a "New Game +" mode, new collectible character Koco, new open-world activities, and the option to decorate the game with birthday-themed elements.
Next up for Sonic is his appearance in "Sonic Superstars," a new 2.5D side-scrolling platformer set to release on October 17, just three days before Sonic's longtime rival appears in "Super Mario Bros. Wonder."
Developed by Arzest, the Japanese studio founded by Sonic's original creator Naoto Ohshima, "Sonic Superstars" allows players to control Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, or Amy Rose.
According to Sega's description: "Sonic and his friends' journey begins on the beautiful North Star Islands, a mystical place offering previously unseen environments and a mysterious story waiting to unfold.
"Enormous creatures, thrilling adventures, and the evil plans of Dr. Eggman await Sonic and his friends, who can now acquire brand-new abilities known as the Emerald Powers when collecting Chaos Emeralds."
