Teaching a Deadly Lesson: Elden Ring Player's Hilarious Platforming Mishap
An experienced Elden Ring player tried to teach a friendly invader how to ride one of the giant moving horse platforms in a dungeon, but the lesson ended in a comical platforming mishap. FromSoftware's epic open-world game, Elden Ring, which offers over 100 hours of gameplay, is still delighting players with memorable and humorous moments nearly two years after its release. Having sold over 20 million copies since its launch in February 2022, it received the Game of the Year award at The Game Awards last December and is considered FromSoftware's most successful game to date.
Elden Ring's vast open world, the Lands Between, is filled with distinctly unique areas both above and below ground for players to explore. Part of the adventure in the Lands Between involves discovering numerous dungeons hidden within its beautiful landscapes. These dungeons can be quite challenging, guiding players through mine shafts, tunnels, and groups of formidable enemies, leading to intense boss fights at the deepest depths. Some of these dungeons also require perilous platforming, adding an extra layer of danger for intrepid explorers.
One player decided to offer assistance to a friendly invader facing a challenging platforming task in Elden Ring's Gelmir Hero's Grave. On Reddit, user Jolly_Old_Lautrec shared a two-minute video in which they demonstrated how to ride the moving horse platform across a lava-filled tunnel to an observing invader. Afterward, they disembarked from the platform and used pointing emotes to guide the invader off a small ledge and up a ladder, leading to a room where they could traverse beams above. The guiding player executed a perfect drop and landed safely on the platform. The invader, however, followed suit a bit too late and amusingly plummeted to their demise.
Upon closer inspection, it appears that the invader not only timed their arrival a bit late, as the horse platform had already started moving by the time they landed, but they also missed their mark, landing on one of the spiked wheels on the side and instantly meeting their end. It's evident that even a slight touch to these wheels, even when the platform is stationary, results in instant death. The guiding player was credited with the unfortunate demise of the invader, as the Elden Ring multiplayer message "Bloody Finger Vanquished" appeared on the screen.
For those who relish large open-world RPGs that provide years of whimsical and amusing experiences, Elden Ring appears to be fulfilling that role quite effectively as it approaches its second anniversary early next year. Looking ahead, FromSoftware's Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon has been announced, making Elden Ring's upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC the next highly anticipated release from the renowned studio.
