Starfield's Nightmarish Encounters: Players Encounter the Terrifying Hunting Cephalopod
One unfortunate Starfield player recently had a harrowing encounter with an enemy that puts the game's Terrormorphs to shame in terms of sheer terror. As more players embark on their journeys through the diverse worlds of Starfield, a wide array of enemy types is being unearthed, further enriching the game's vast universe.
When the initial trailers for Starfield began to surface, many wondered just how much extraterrestrial life would inhabit the game's universe. Now that the game has been released, players have come face-to-face with an assortment of otherworldly creatures, many of which have a strong inclination to end the player's existence. Among these menacing aliens is the Terrormorph, a four-legged, spider-like entity notorious for its aggressiveness and acidic projectile attacks. Terrormorphs can be encountered on any of the game's planets, and dispatching one rewards players with a substantial amount of experience points. However, it appears there are more spider-like horrors lurking in the interstellar shadows for travelers to contend with.
A Reddit user by the name of GourdEnthusiast shared a video showcasing a creature in Starfield that many players would find far more menacing than Terrormorphs. In the footage, the player is seen exploring a desolate planet, much like any other ordinary day in the game. Suddenly, a level 40 spider-octopus hybrid creature emerges from behind a rock and swiftly gives chase. GourdEnthusiast opens fire with their AK-47, but the bizarre monstrosity seems virtually unfazed. In a desperate bid for safety, the player attempts to take cover behind a nearby rock, only to have the creature scale it effortlessly and continue its relentless assault. After a protracted battle, GourdEnthusiast finally manages to bring down the nightmarish arachnid creature.
This menacing creature encountered by GourdEnthusiast is known as a Hunting Cephalopod and can be found on the planet Nirvana 2 within Starfield. These formidable creatures possess the capacity to eliminate some players with a single strike, especially those lacking adequate armor. The recommended strategy for dealing with these creatures is for players to enhance their jet packs, enabling them to remain airborne and eliminate the threats from above.
In the video's comments section, other players shared their own encounters with Hunting Cephalopods in Starfield, with some stories even more spine-chilling than the featured clip. One commenter claimed to have stumbled upon a flying variation of the creature in the Archimedes System, while another encountered a cloaked version on a random planet. Yet another player recounted a harrowing experience of single-handedly facing off against three of these creatures during the dark of night. With a vast galaxy containing a thousand planets to explore in Starfield, the possibilities for encountering a wide array of nightmarish creatures are boundless as players journey through the cosmos.
