Rockstar is preparing to announce the long-awaited game 'Grand Theft Auto VI'
Rockstar Games, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., is planning to announce the release of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto game as early as this week, according to sources familiar with the company's plans.
According to these sources, the company intends to release a trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI next month to celebrate Rockstar's 25th anniversary. The informants requested anonymity as they are not authorized to make public statements. A representative from Rockstar has not yet responded to a request for comments sent after business hours.
The release of Grand Theft Auto VI has generated an unprecedented level of excitement among fans and investors and is expected to be one of the most significant entertainment events of the current decade. Its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto V, has sold more than 185 million copies and is the second best-selling video game in history, trailing only Minecraft, which was also available on mobile phones.
In recent years, Rockstar has been actively working to improve its corporate culture and the work-life balance of its employees, especially after complaints of burnout during the development of their last game, Red Dead Redemption 2, released in 2018.
Last year, hackers leaked hours of early footage from Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar attributed it to a "network intrusion" and stated that they would "introduce this next game when it is ready." Earlier this year, two teenagers in London were convicted for their involvement in the hack as a result of a criminal trial.
