"Hogwarts Legacy" reclaimed the top spot on the UK physical chart after its release on Switch
The game successfully led the charts among the best-selling games in Europe in the first half of 2023 after its release on February 10th.
However, over time, its sales naturally declined, leading to a loss of leadership in the British charts - last week, the game dropped to the eighth position.
The situation changed with the release of the version for Switch on November 14th, bringing the game back to the top position, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz.
The game's return to the top means that last week's leader - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - now holds the second position after a 40% sales drop in a week (according to Chris Dring from GI.biz on X).
This also affected EA Sports FC 24, which shifted from second to third place, while Spider-Man 2 remains fourth, and Super Mario Wonder dropped to fifth place.
Two new games entered the top 10 this week - Super Mario RPG at sixth place and Bluey: The Video Game at seventh.
It's important to note that these are physical game charts, and digital sales are not considered.
Comparative videos released last week show that Hogwarts Legacy is performing "fairly well" on Switch compared to other versions and "could have been worse."
However, it's noted that the Switch version lacks a seamless open world, and loading times range from 30-50 seconds when entering specific areas and buildings.
The initial release of Hogwarts Legacy was overshadowed by significant controversies due to public statements made by the author of the books, J.K. Rowling, regarding transgender rights.
