Fortnite's Next Season: A Return to the OG Map and the Fate of Zero Build Mode
Fortnite players are eagerly anticipating the upcoming season, but there's a twist in the speculation – it might not be an entirely new chapter. Clues from teasers suggest that the game could journey back in time to the OG map. Some fans are concerned about the impact on Zero Build mode if the original map returns and mantling is disabled.
Chapter 4 Season 4 of Fortnite is nearing its conclusion, and the gaming community is buzzing with theories about the next season. Various hints and in-game elements point towards Fortnite revisiting its roots. A time machine in the game displays the date of Chapter 1 Season 5, and props from that era have been spotted in Frenzy Fields. As Epic Games drops more hints, players are increasingly convinced that the OG Fortnite map will make a comeback.
Given that Zero Build mode didn't exist in Chapter 1, there have been rumors of Epic Games vaulting this game mode in the next season. The idea is to recreate the game exactly as it was back then by temporarily removing recent mechanics like mantling and tactical sprinting. However, trusted Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR has assured the community that Zero Build will remain available in the next season.
Zero Build mode made Fortnite more accessible to new players and lured back some who had previously left due to the skill gap in building. While many fans were relieved to hear that Zero Build mode would continue, questions arose about its compatibility with the Chapter 1 map.
Some Chapter 1 points of interest (POIs) and landmarks could be challenging to reach or navigate without building. If mantling is disabled in Zero Build, certain locations might become entirely inaccessible for its players. It's uncertain whether mantling will be retained in Zero Build or if Epic Games plans to create an OG version of the standard Battle Royale mode to appeal to nostalgic players. Only time will reveal Epic's intentions.
