At the moment, "NBA 2K24" ranks second among the least popular games on Steam based on reviews
As per the Steam 250 ranking, encompassing the top 250 best and 100 worst games available on the Steam platform, the most recent addition to 2K Sports' basketball series swiftly secured the second position in the roster of the 100 lowest-rated games.
The Steam game page explicitly indicates that the game presently carries an "overwhelmingly negative" review status, with merely 11% of the extensive 2,800+ submitted reviews being deemed positive.
The primary critique revolves around the fact that the PC version of NBA 2K24 is founded on the editions designed for PS4 and Xbox One, rather than those tailored for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
This entails not only a less visually impressive experience compared to the current-generation console versions but also a deficiency in specific modes like MyNBA and The W, alongside a scaled-down open world within the MyCareer mode.
One user named King of RIPs voices their profound disappointment, stating, "I am profoundly let down by the amount of effort invested in this game. I possess both the Xbox Series X/S version and the PC version, and the array of features present in the console version could have been seamlessly integrated into the PC version for the next generation."
Another user, akuzi, observes, "The gameplay and animations remain identical to the prior versions. Once again, only the current-gen version is accessible for PC, which leaves me perplexed."
To compound matters, Skoardy remarks, "To cap it all off, the 2KTV segments preceding each game enthusiastically extol the virtues of the story element in MyCareer for the next-gen version."
