Awesome mod turns Half-Life 2 into Lego
Rejoice! An unofficial Half-Life 2 LEGO makeover has arrived, giving the classic PC shooter a visual overhaul like never before. With a growing list of Half-Life 2 community creations, a new visual mod has been added, this time turning Valve's classic shooter into a full LEGO Traveler's Tales game.
As you know, both Counter-Strike and Team Fortress started out as mods for the original Half-Life, and the fact that its successor, Half-Life 2, offers modders full Steam Workshop integration for easy modding and content sharing means that absolutely anyone can modify if they want. Therefore, it is even somehow strange that it took so long for the release of the LEGO character transformation mod.
The LEGO Half-Life 2 mod was developed by modder Not Dave or Daniel. The mod turns all human characters into LEGO figures that would fit in a real LEGO video game. This mod is very far from being a graphics intensive transformation, but it successfully lives up to its promises. It all looks pretty ridiculous, but since it's technically just a character reskin, the seriousness of the game's subject matter is maintained. Players will be able to get an unforgettable and very funny experience.
It's worth noting that the Not Dave or Daniel's mod doesn't change anything other than many of the playable character models. Those who were hoping to play around with a crazy LEGO rework of one of the most legendary gravity guns in gaming should not expect anything like this from this mod.
Another feature of the mod that you should pay attention to is that it undergoes a slight change in perspective due to the fact that the proportions of the body parts of the LEGO figure do not correspond at all to the proportions of the body parts of a real person, which is not surprising, right? =)
However, this mod is not for accuracy. While many modders are trying to meticulously remake Half-Life 2 to the best of their ability, others are still most interested in creating outright ridiculous, comical and sometimes even trash situations within the game engine and storytelling, and you know what? Sometimes that's all it takes for a mod to become popular! The LEGO character customization mod is now available on the Steam Workshop and the modder intends to continue working on it.
