It appears that IO Interactive's fantasy RPG is now available exclusively on Xbox

According to internal documents presented in the FTC case against Microsoft regarding the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, IO Interactive's project may become an exclusive for the Xbox console.

Uncovered documents from IGN reveal that IO Interactive is being considered as a potential acquisition target and is currently working on a project codenamed "Project Dragon." This project is an RPG shooter in development for PC and Xbox Series X|S consoles, with Xbox Game Studios listed as the publisher.

In April 2021, Windows Central first reported on the collaboration between IO Interactive and Microsoft in developing new intellectual property related to dragons, which is expected to be released as an Xbox exclusive.

IO Interactive confirmed in February that they are working on an online fantasy role-playing game. Although not officially confirmed, it is likely that this project aligns with the one mentioned in the internal Microsoft documents.

"We are creating a new world, a new intellectual property—an online fantasy role-playing game," stated the company. "The world and the game are designed to bring joy to players and exist for many years to come."

The company also emphasized the personal significance of this journey, which began with the fantasy genre even before becoming professional game developers. From the immersive experience of choosing paths and battling various adversaries in the "Fighting Fantasy" book series to the camaraderie, understanding, and joy found in tabletop gaming, IO Interactive draws inspiration for their project.

For the developers, assuming the role of the game master encompasses being the storyteller, the AI opponent, the guide, and the villain simultaneously. The collaborative nature of gaming promotes creativity, imagination, and the shared goal of crafting an extraordinary gaming experience.
