According to reports, E3 2024 and 2025 have been cancelled

According to information presented in documents from the Los Angeles City Tourism Bureau's meeting, discovered on the ResetEra forum and published on Wednesday, E3 has been canceled for 2024 and 2025. Earlier, it was planned for E3 to return this month with its first offline show in four years, but the event was canceled in March after prolonged anticipation and uncertainty.

The organizer of E3, ReedPop, explained that they simply couldn't generate enough interest to hold the show in a way that would demonstrate its scale, power, and influence on the gaming industry. There is a possibility that revival plans for the event might involve relocating to another city, as E3 has been held in Los Angeles for two decades. Otherwise, the future of this major gaming event looks bleak.

VGC reached out to the organizer of E3, ReedPop, for further clarification on the matter.

In the absence of E3 this month, several smaller events took place in Los Angeles, including the competing Summer Game Fest by producer Geoff Keighley, Ubisoft Forward presentation, and Xbox Showcase.

Keighley launched Summer Game Fest in 2020 after parting ways with E3, where he previously hosted his live events at the Coliseum. At the time, he expressed discomfort with the plans proposed by the ESA, the organizers of E3.

"I think E3 essentially killed itself," said Keighley. "I understand why people say that[Summer Game Fest killed E3], but I think if it weren't for us, the event would have been seriously weakened this summer."
