The upcoming update for the space strategy game Galactic Civilizations IV will allow players to destroy entire planets with a single shot

The American publisher and developer Stardock Corporation has announced a major update for their 4X space strategy game Galactic Civilizations IV - Supernova. Along with the announcement, a short trailer was released.

Supernova will feature an updated combat system with the Terror Stars mechanic, allowing players to destroy entire stars and the planets surrounding them with a single shot. The update will also add additional alien civilizations to play as (or against), a unique culture development system, and breakthrough technology research mechanics.

The gameplay promises to be transformed with an improved diplomacy system featuring more complex negotiations and alliances, as well as expanded options for mod creators. Finally, the game's graphics will receive some enhancements with improved visual effects.
