God of War Series Coming to Amazon Prime Video
Streaming service Prime Video , which is owned by Amazon , has announced that it will exclusively produce a series based on the God of War video game franchise . Production will be handled by Amazon Studios in association with Sony Pictures Television .
The showrunner was Rafe Judkins, who previously worked on such projects as the Wheel of Time, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Uncharted. It will be written and produced by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, who previously worked on Iron Man and The Expanse.
Work on the series has been going on since March of this year. It is not yet known whether the events of the series will cover the plot of God of War Ragnarok, which was released on November 9th, or will be limited to the original 2018 game.
It is worth noting that the shooting of the series is carried out in close cooperation with the creators of the game, Santa Monica Studios. This was announced by the game director of the studio Cory Barlog on Twitter.
God of War is not the first big-name Sony PlayStation franchise to receive a film adaptation. Also in the final stages of production is the series The Last of Us, which will be released on HBO Max on January 15 next year. Sony also plans to release a series based on the Horizon series on Netflix and Twisted Metal on Peacock.
