About Flashback™
Flashback, also known as Flashback: The Quest for Identity, is a platform game developed by the French company Delphine Software. The game is recognized in the Guinness Book of Records as the best-selling French game in history. Flashback was originally released for the Amiga platform in 1992; a year later, ports for MS-DOS, Acorn Archimedes, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, and Super Nintendo were released. In the period 1994-1995. a CD version was released for the following platforms: 3DO, Apple Macintosh, Atari Jaguar, CD-i, FM Towns, MS-DOS, and Sega CD. of his time. When it was created, the technique of frame-by-frame manual image processing (rotoscoping) was used; this technique was also used in the games Another World and Prince of Persia. Because of this, Flashback is often mistakenly considered a sequel to Another World, another Delphine Software game.
The game takes place in 2142. The protagonist is Conrad B. Hart, an employee of the Galactic Bureau of Investigation, who accidentally uncovers a conspiracy of aliens masquerading as people. He is kidnapped and his memory is erased, but then Hart manages to escape. The protagonist's adventures begin in the wild jungles of Titan, where he comes to his senses after a glider crash. Soon he finds a holocube (holographic video recording device) with a message from himself recommending that he go to New Washington, a city on the same planet, to a friend who will help in further investigation. After wandering through the jungle, Hart finally gets to New Washington. A friend named Yang helps him recover a memory specially recorded in case of a kidnapping. To continue the investigation, Hart needs to get to Earth, but the ticket is very expensive. He gets a job and gradually accumulates the amount needed to buy false documents. These documents allow him to take part in the deadly television show "Death Tower" and, having won, receive the coveted ticket as a prize. On Earth, Hart manages to discover an underground alien base. There he learns that the arrival of large military forces of an extraterrestrial civilization is expected soon, the purpose of which is the destruction of mankind. Then he is captured again, but this time he escapes, after which he teleports to the aliens' home planet. Hart destroys the brain that controls the actions of the aliens, and then the entire planet. After being rescued on a spaceship, Konrad finds out that he is in an unknown galaxy and cannot return home. The game ends with Hart falling asleep in a suspended animation chamber, hoping that someday he will be found.
