EA Sports FC 25 May Introduce Paid Season Pass in Ultimate Team

EA Sports FC 25’s Ultimate Team mode could be undergoing a significant shift, as fresh leaks suggest that a paid season pass may soon be introduced. While whispers of monetized progression have been around for a while, this latest round of rumors comes from reliable sources, causing fans to take notice.

🔓 From Free-to-Play to Pay-to-Progress?

Since its release in September 2024, FC 25’s season pass system has been entirely free, rewarding players with bonuses and content simply by playing. This model helped the game stand apart from competitors like NBA 2K25, which already features a fully paid season pass structure.

However, with the popular Team of the Season (TOTS) promo set to launch soon, insiders now believe EA may be ready to test a new, monetized progression model in Ultimate Team—starting with Season 7, rumored to begin on April 24, just a day before TOTS kicks off.

🧩 What We Know So Far

According to credible leakers Fut Sheriff and Asy Fut Trader, the new paid pass will debut alongside Season 7. While its full contents remain unknown, speculation suggests that top-tier Evolutions could be included as part of the rewards.

One standout detail is that, unlike NBA 2K25’s Pro ($9.99) and Hall of Fame ($19.99) tiered passes, EA’s version may allow players to purchase the pass using in-game Coins. If true, this could provide a more balanced system—rewarding dedicated players without forcing them to spend real money.

⚽ TOTS Promo and Monetization Experiments

TOTS will run for seven weeks, spotlighting the best players across global leagues. The first week focuses on squads from Ligue 1, the Arkema Premier League (Women’s Ligue 1), and the Eredivisie. While Ligue 1 selections won’t involve fan voting, upcoming squads from the Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, and La Liga likely will.

To prepare players for the event, EA has launched a TOTS Warm-Up campaign, offering free packs and opportunities to earn Coins—which may be just enough to unlock the rumored paid pass without spending real-world money.

🧠 Strategic Testing for Future Titles?

Historically, EA has used the TOTS window as a testing ground for new features before implementing them in the next installment of the franchise. If the paid season pass proves successful—or at least well-received—it may signal a broader monetization shift for future Ultimate Team experiences.

While many fans remain cautious, especially given insider Asy’s warning to "prepare your wallets," the potential to buy the pass with in-game resources could soften the blow and keep Ultimate Team appealing for both casual and competitive players alike.
