Rumor: FURIA breaks partnership with Nike
Brazilian esports organization FURIA and Nike have mutually agreed to end their partnership, according to sources familiar with the situation. This information was shared by the Sports Business Journal portal. Recall that for the first time the parties announced a partnership in 2019.
It is noted that FURIA plans to start producing its own knitwear, but in the future the companies will continue to work together on special products.
To achieve this goal, the organization has already hired former Nike sports marketing manager Rafael Jimenez Pereira to lead the new initiative as Product Director. Pereira already worked with FURIA when he was at Nike. Note that Pereira spent 10 years working at Nike before joining FURIA.
The end of the partnership is beneficial to both companies, as FURIA has experienced difficulties selling jerseys, as Nike prioritizes large-scale wholesale of smaller editions. Compared to other Nike products, FURIA jersey sales were not enough to make factories devote more time to them.
FURIA will also launch a new marketplace for its products, which is expected to be officially announced within a few days.
