Virtus.pro closes Fortnite roster
The Russian esports organization Virtus.pro has decided to retire from the Fortnite discipline by disbanding its last roster. Note that the Fortnite Battle Royale division was opened by the organization almost three years ago.
Sergey Glamazda, general manager of Virtus.pro:
This decision was made for several reasons. First, almost the entire Fortnite ecosystem is player-centric: the competitive side and the Creator Code model make organizations unnecessary.
Secondly, the audience of the game now mainly consists of very young people, and this is not always a plus when it comes to potential partners for the roster. And some categories of sponsors are now simply closed by the publisher.
The first Fortnite roster arrived on July 19, 2018. Then Virtus.pro signed the 7ssk7 and Jamside duo. During this time, players earned about $ 387,000 in prize money, won several major championships, and also competed in the Fortnite World Cup 2019.
Despite the news of the closure of the squad, Sergei Glamazda said that the organization could return to discipline if the situation changes.
