This is the first time that Herman Miller has signed a partnership with a Chinese esports organization. Note that in August 2020, Herman Miller became a partner of the Philadelphia Fusion team, playing in the Overwatch League.

Last year, Herman Miller also partnered with Logitech G. The main goal of the collaboration is to address discomfort and ergonomics issues that are not being addressed by currently available gaming products.

Health problems and injuries have become a real problem for professional esports players. For example, on January 21, FunPlus player Phoenix Tian announced that he was leaving the professional scene due to chronic pain.

FunPlus Phoenix is one of the youngest (founded 2017) Chinese esports organizations and has a number of non-endemic partners, including automaker BMW, smartphone maker OPPO, Oish, PUMA and Chinese restaurant Cool Fish, as well as Huya platform and social networking site Bixin. Prior to winning the 2019 League of Legends World Championship, the organization only had three sponsorship deals: Huya, Cool Fish, and B ixin.
