Activision wants to develop Call of Duty League
Joanna Feris, who plays the role of the head of the Call of Duty League, announced that Activision intends to make Call of Duty: Warzone an esports discipline by adding it to the league.
According to Joanna, this idea was prompted by the rapid growth of Warzone players, and in the offseason, Activision had already carefully thought out the strategy for the development of the esports component of Call of Duty: Warzone and the addition of "battle royale" to the Call of Duty League. According to a statement from the head of CoD: League, there is something really interesting in store for gamers this season.
Last November, Call of Duty: Warzone introduced the ability to collect more than four players in one lobby. The feature is in beta testing. Recall that earlier championships in CoD: Warzeon were held in regular matchmaking, and the victory was awarded to the team that earned the most points.
This year, the first tournament was held using the new closed lobby system. Dmitry 'Recrent' Osintsev and Alexander 'Ubica' Ivanov became the winners of the Twitch Rivals Call of Duty: Warzone Season 7 Showdown.
