2XKO Reveals a New February 2026 Update Focused on Stability and Bug Fixes

Riot Games has rolled out a brand-new update for 2XKO in February 2026, delivering a wide range of bug fixes, system corrections, and quality-of-life improvements, while intentionally holding back on balance changes until a later patch. Originally known as Project L, 2XKO underwent a lengthy development cycle before officially launching on PC on October 7, 2025. Since then, Riot has continued to support the game with frequent updates, culminating in Season 1, which introduced new content and marked the long-awaited console launch on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

Since release, 2XKO has clearly found an audience among fans of the Runeterra universe, appealing to players familiar with League of Legends as well as viewers drawn in through Netflix’s Arcane. However, despite the game’s strong foundation and growing player base, it has not been without criticism — particularly surrounding monetization.

Setting Expectations: A Smaller Patch by Design ⚙️

Ahead of the update, Julian “JulezJP” Johnson from Riot Games addressed player expectations, clarifying that this patch was never intended to match the scale of the Season 1 update. That earlier release delivered major balance adjustments alongside system-wide fixes, whereas the February update is designed to target critical bugs and long-standing issues affecting gameplay.

Johnson also confirmed that several micropatches had already been deployed quietly between major updates, and that these fixes are now being formally documented as part of version 1.1.2. While no champions were directly adjusted in this patch, Riot acknowledged that some fixes may still result in subtle shifts to the current meta, especially where unintended mechanics were previously being exploited.

Core Gameplay Fixes Target Exploitable Bugs 🎮

Riot highlighted four major gameplay-related fixes as the centerpiece of this update, each addressing bugs that could significantly disrupt matches if left unresolved.

One of the most impactful fixes resolves an issue where players could bypass the Limit Strike system by using certain moves that hit off the ground (OTG). Limit Strikes are designed as a deliberate combo-ending mechanic, allowing players to trade extended pressure for bonus damage, super meter, and break meter by exceeding the allowed number of wall bounces, ground bounces, or tumbles in a single combo. However, a bug allowed some champions — including Braum — to gain more rewards than intended, breaking the risk-reward balance of the system.

Additional fixes addressed:

  • A bug where Tag Launchers could temporarily make the enemy champion invisible
  • An issue where certain Super abilities could break the in-game camera, disrupting visibility
  • A Training Mode bug that caused the game to freeze after exiting idle sessions

Together, these changes aim to reinforce fairness and consistency across competitive play.

General Fixes and Online Quality-of-Life Improvements 🌐

Beyond core gameplay, the update also introduces a range of general fixes and usability improvements, particularly for online play.

Champion Mastery progression has been corrected, ensuring that progression now displays accurately. Riot confirmed that progress was always being tracked correctly, but visual updates were failing to reflect that progress properly.

Online play has also been improved through better error handling, controller fixes, and matchmaking adjustments. Most notably:

  • Players who idle in Champion Select until the timer expires will now receive the same penalty as force-disconnecting from a match, discouraging last-second dodges
  • The client will now remember previous Champion and Fuse selections, allowing players to quickly autopick their last loadout by confirming selections repeatedly

These changes are designed to reduce frustration, improve match flow, and discourage disruptive behavior before matches even begin.

Console Screen Tearing Still Unresolved 📺

Despite the extensive list of fixes, one notable issue remains unresolved: screen tearing on console versions of 2XKO.

Following the game’s console launch in January 2026, players began reporting horizontal screen tearing, particularly on displays with higher refresh rates. The issue causes the image to appear misaligned, as if the top and bottom halves of the screen are slightly offset from one another.

Riot Games has officially acknowledged the problem and listed it under Known Issues in the patch notes. However, no estimated timeframe for a fix has been provided at this stage.
