Team Liquid launches a project to search for young talents
Dutch esports organization Team Liquid has announced the launch of its Next Wave, a talent scouting project for FPS players in North America.
The project will be followed by a series of five episodes, and the finale will be broadcast live on Twitch. The project will be aimed at amateur and professional players and content creators, and the winner of the competition will receive a cash prize, a contract with Team Liquid, and an affiliate prize package.
According to Team Liquid, Coinbase will act as the presentation partner of Next Wave, while Aim Lab, HyperX, IMC Trading, Kingston, MIKE AND IKE, and Secretlab will become supporting partners.
Chris Ambrosio, Director of Events at Team Liquid: "This competition is in keeping with Team Liquid's consistent spirit of competitive excellence. Unlike other industry predecessors, this competition goes beyond content creation and includes a focus on playmanship."
Note that this is the first time that Team Liquid has turned to amateur players, instead of recruiting professionals into their ranks. Entries are open to North American players while the top 22 will get a chance to advance to the finals.
It is reported that everyone who passes the initial selection will be presented with a task from Aim Lab, created around the basic principles of FPS gameplay.
