Riot Games Partners with Intel to Host Intel Arabian Cup
Publisher Riot Games has partnered with multinational technology company Intel to launch the Intel Arabian Cup later in 2022. The Intel Arabian Cup will feature a $130,000 prize pool from ongoing talent development efforts in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The Intel Arabian Cup will reportedly feature League of Legends, VALORANT, and League of Legends: Wild Rift competitions.
Karim Khachani, Head of Publishing for the MENA Region at Riot Games: "We've listened to feedback from previous participating teams and with Intel's ongoing support, we've redesigned the Intel Arabian Cup format this year. The new format will not only greatly enhance the experience, but also launch new tournaments based on our disciplines that will help attract more experienced and novice players so they can be part of what has become one of the most popular gaming tournaments in the region.This is another important step to develop the incredible talent that we have in this region, and we are with looking forward to some exciting matches over the next few months."
To celebrate the launch of the Intel Arabian Cup, Riot Games and Intel held a virtual press conference that included key dignitaries including Karim Khachani, Head of Publishing for the MENA Region at Riot Games; Marcus Kennedy, Intel General Manager, Client Computing Group; and Ali Riza-Kucuk, Intel Regional Director of Consumers - Middle East, Turkey and Africa.
The Intel Arabian Cup will feature the IAC Playground Amateur Championship with a total prize pool of $30,000. The event will take place separately in three different sub-regions: GCC and Iraq, Levant and Egypt, and North Africa.
