Usain Bolt co-owns WYLDE
Irish esports organization WYLDE has announced that global sports star and eight-time Olympian Usain Bolt has joined as a co-owner. At the club, Bolt will support the organization's mission to identify, empower and support talent, with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.
In addition, as co-owner and active member of the team, Bolt will be involved in a number of activities aimed at increasing the visibility of the WYLDE brand.
Usain Bolt, co-owner of WYLDE: "WYLDE is on its way to becoming one of the biggest brands in the fastest growing sport in the world. In esports, as in athletics, it's very important to have this competitive, winning mentality. I look forward to working with the WYLDE Leadership Team to help our players reach their potential and take care of their physical and mental wellbeing."
Founded in Dublin by Steve Daley and David Cronin, WYLDE entered the esports scene just two years ago. In the past, Daly was an investment banker at JP Morgan, while Cronin was president and CEO of American Ireland Funds and a founding shareholder of Irish technology company QUMAS.
David Cronin, co-founder of WYLDE: "Usain's arrival takes WYLDE to the next level. With his vast competitive experience and Olympic mentality, his leadership will be invaluable as we continue to build professional structures to support the development of our players."
WYLDE is currently featured in the Rainbow Six, VALORANT, Rocket League, and FIFA disciplines. Last year, the organization founded its own academy to develop young players by organizing community tournaments, providing professional training and hosting bootcamps across Europe.
It is reported that the organization is currently in sponsorship negotiations with a number of global brands focused on entering the esports industry. It is likely that with the arrival of Bolt, the club will find new well-known sponsors, among which may be Puma and Hublot.
