Misfits Gaming Group Raises $ 35 Million Investment
Florida-based esports organization Misfits Gaming Group has announced a $ 35 million investment in a campaign led by US broadcaster EW Scripps Company.
According to a press release, EW Scripps will invest $ 10 million in the esports organization itself. The money will go towards the development of the Florida-based Overwatch and Call of Duty franchises, as well as the team from the European League of Legends. As part of the investment, the company will also appoint an appointed member of the Misfits Gaming Group's board of directors.
Ben Spoon, CEO and Co-Founder of Misfits Gaming Group:“We are fortunate to have found Scripps as a forward thinking partner who sees the future and is as excited as we are to capture the hearts and minds of Gen Z and the Millennial audience. There is room for partnership to develop broadcast and comprehensive programs for target audiences that are important to both of us at the national level. "
Following the investment, EW Scripps also established a strategic partnership with the Misfits Gaming Group. The broadcaster will acquire the rights to distribute the organization's content through its linear television platforms in Florida and throughout the United States. The partnership will also expand access for Florida advertisers to the Misfits Gaming Group audience.
