Fnatic says goodbye to the roster and temporarily leaves the Dota 2 discipline

The British esports organization Fnatic announced the parting with its last Dota 2 roster and temporary retirement from the discipline. The decision comes after the failure of the team within the DPC SEA 2023 Tour 1: Division I and relegation to the second division. As reported in an official statement, the club will review its approach to discipline and evaluate options in the future.

Eight years later, we're looking back at the amazing moments of several iconic iterations of Fnatic's Dota 2 roster that made our ambition to become a regional leader capable of fighting among the best teams internationally a reality.

More than the endless buyouts, backdoors, riots, and epic sports moments we can look back on, I will humbly remember the people who made it all possible, as well as the amazing support our Southeast Asian fans have shown us.

Special thanks to the players who all gave our project their best and helped the misguided foreigner and amateur (but passionate) enthusiast of the genre build a strong base in Dota 2. As we turn the page and temporarily move away from Dota 2, I want to wish Good luck to the players and staff on your journey to TI12.

Patrick Settermon, Director of Games at Fnatic

The Fnatic organization has been represented in Dota 2 since 2011. However, in 2015, the club turned away from the European scene and began to develop its efforts in Southeast Asia. In eight years, various Fnatic rosters have won SEA Kappa Invitational Season 1, DOTA Summit 12, ESL One Los Angeles 2020 - Online: Southeast Asia, ESL One Birmingham 2020 - Online: Southeast Asia, World E-sports Legendary League, DPC 2021: Season 1 - Southeast Asia Upper Division and DPC SEA 2021/2022 Tour 2: Division I.

In addition, Fnatic took part in The International 2015 (13th-16th place), The International 2016 (4th place), The International 2017 (17th-18th place), The International 2018 (13th-16th place), The International 2019 (13th-16th place), The International 2021 (9th-12th place) and The International 2022 (13th-16th place).

It is reported that the British club will provide now former players with assistance in finding new teams. The roster will finish their performances under the Fnatic tag at BTS Pro Series Season 14: Southeast Asia, after which they will officially leave the organization.
