Valve Updated DPC 2023 Rules
On November 17, Valve updated the rulebook for the 2023 pro season. DPC 2023 will become clearer.
The changes affected not all rules. Basically, Valve focused on the items related to the composition of the players, transfers and linking the slot to the team.
List of changed/updated DPC 2023 rules.
Who owns the team slot?
A slot owner is a person registered as a team administrator. In professional organizations, this is usually the team manager or representative of the organization, but in other cases it can be the team captain, any player or a neutral third party. The registered administrator is considered the sole owner of the team and can exclude any members of the team. If a team wants to have multiple admins or limit admin rights, its members can sign contracts between themselves, which we will take into account in the event of a break.
Is it possible to change a loose composition?
Yes, but for each expulsion of a player, the team will forfeit 20% of the qualifying points they have earned so far. The sum of points for each individual tournament is rounded down to the nearest integer. There is no penalty for adding a player.
Who can remove a player from a team?
The manager can remove the player from the team, but the player himself can leave it until the squad is fixed. In any of these cases, the team will lose 20% of the qualifying points - both previously received and earned in the current league.
The second point was clearly changed due to the precedent that arose before the distribution of direct invites to The International 2022. Then Virtus.pro lost the slot, losing 0.5 points.
In addition, now player substitution will be punished more severely: for each substitution, the club will receive -20% of the amount earned before the change in the composition of PDC points. Previously, 15% of points were removed for permutations.
The rules will come into effect with the start of DPC 2023. The first round of the new season will begin in December 2022.
