All news: Bored Ape Yacht Club
Bored Ape Yacht Club is one of the most popular NFT collections in the history of non-fungible tokens. The collection is a product of Yuga Labs, who also created the Otherside metaverse.
This collection is known for the fact that many stars from various fields, be it music, films or sports, supported the Bored Ape Yacht Club and bought non-fungible tokens for fabulous money. For example, Justin Bieber bought a token from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection for $1,300,000, but subsequently lost 95% of its value.
There were other cases when users bought tokens at a low cost and made tens of X's, then selling them for amounts that exceeded hundreds of thousands of dollars. For example, the most expensive purchase of an NFT token from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection was recorded on September 6, 2021. Then the token number #3749 cost the buyer 740 Ethereum, which then amounted to about $2,920,000 in dollar terms. Among other such record-breaking purchases and sales, it is worth mentioning items #8585, #2087 and #5199. Their buyers purchased at a price tag of 697 Ethereum (~$2,700,000 at the time of sale), 769 (~$2,270,000 at the time of sale) and 425 Ethereum (~$1,590,000 at the time of sale) respectively.
In total, there are 10,000 non-fungible tokens in the collection of Bored Ape Yacht Club (abbreviated as BAYC), which have a wide variety. All the arts, which are also called monkey avatars, are pictures of bored monkeys with different stylizations. The cost of a token depends on the rarity of certain elements that NFT items possess: hairstyle, beard, clothes, hats, and other elements.
The creators of the NFT collection represented by Yuga Labs are located in Virginia, USA. The artists talked about how the Planet of the Apes franchise was the main inspiration for their work.
Bored Ape Yacht Club went online in April 2021 and the collection quickly sold out. You can see all the tokens on the OpenSea platform, which is one of the pillars in the field of non-fungible tokens. BAYC circulates on the Ethereum blockchain, which has greatly increased the popularity of ETH. Along with this, Ethereum reached a record high of $4,000 in 2021.
In addition to being included in the list of selected owners of monkey NFT art, non-fungible token purchasers also receive lifetime access to the secret club. There, as you might guess, are the same owners of non-fungible tokens from the BAYC collection.
After Yuga Labs realized what was happening, and realized how high the popularity of their collection was, the company did not linger and later released another collection with monkeys, which was called the Mutant Ape Yacht Club. Its feature was the introduction of diversity into the art, in which the monkeys were mutated and looked like zombies.
Another collection, Bored Ape Kennel Club, was not long in coming. However, none of these collections have been as successful as the Bored Ape Yacht Club, yet the Bored Ape Kennel Club has a deeper meaning than just selling and making money. 2.5% of each token sale of this collection went to animal shelters. The set itself consists of dogs that are supposedly pets of monkeys from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection.
